Iran beats Lebanon at FIBA Asia U18 Basketball Championship

Host Iran defeated Lebanon 76-54 at the 2016 FIBA Asia U18 Basketball Championship here at the Azadi Hall on Wednesday.

The Iranian team, who had already defeated Indonesia (106-40) and Kazakhstan (90-59) in its first two matches, suffered two successive defeats against Japan 81-77 and South Korea 86-83 in Group B.

The host got 13 points each from Ehsan Samadi and Amirhossein Khandanpoor and finished 3-2 in the group. Lebanon, who got 14 points from Mark Alkhoury, still locked up first place in Group B with a 4-1 record. The Lebanese will face India in the quarter-final. 

Iran will play China on Friday.

The top three teams from the 24th FIBA Asia U18 Championship will represent Asia at the 2017 FIBA U19 World Championship.
